ABOUT ME

I KNEW THE WORLD WAS INFINITE AND I DREAMED OF EXPLORING EVERY BIT OF IT

I grew up in a small farming community in Central California where I learned how to get my hands dirty and work in the extreme summer heat moving sprinkler pipe in the fields, cutting lawns and working construction until I graduated high school.

I joined the U.S. Army at 17 years old and so began the journey.. Soon after turning 18, I found myself being shot at in my first of two combat missions.

It was there where I learned how precious life is and how quick it could be taken away from us. That night I promised myself that if I made it out alive, I was going to see and do all I could in this world.

Seven years later, I was working in Communications and Project Management in Silicon Valley. I was promoted and moved to Dallas, Texas then to New York City and back to Dallas. It was during this spell where I was married and started a family. I was living the “American Dream” until I wasn’t.

You see, I was comfortable. I had the big house, the cars, the job, and one day sitting on the sofa getting fat, I asked myself “Is this it?” I mean, is this all there is to life? I was going through the motions but wasn’t really serving a purpose. I didn’t have a mission.

Soon after applying to some international jobs, I landed in Cairo, Egypt. All of a sudden, I was in my element. It was an absolute blast to have a challenging project to work while learning a new culture (life and business).

After Egypt, it was Morocco, Rome, London Paris. Then Nigeria and Jamaica before moving to China and that’s when travel and work really went into overdrive. I could be in South Africa, Singapore, London and Indonesia all in one week. It was exhausting, but I loved it.

Then in 2017, I was working in Latin America and it all came to a halt. One night after dinner, I clinically died. Luckily some friends were there to revive me after a few minutes being on “the other side”. You would think this was a wake up call right?

Not!

Of course I was scared of what happened but I worked on rehabilitating myself physically to get back into the (work) game. I didn’t want to show any weakness! Amazing how ego can take over at times!

However, the fear of what happened to me brought on anxiety attacks and stress over the next couple years. I was diagnosed with PTSD from my near-death experience and apparently, many memories I chose to suppress from my past.

This, along with the worst week of my life (which is another movie) spiraled me into a deep depression. It wasn’t until a month later where I got out of the shower, looked at myself in the mirror and realized I lost 30 lbs.

It was at that point I admitted to myself that I needed help. I went to India and enrolled in SVYASA Yoga University where I studied Yoga Therapy. I also attended a 10-day Vipassana Meditation which was extremely powerful and helped pull me out of my depression.

Upon my return to Bogota, Colombia I was at an impasse. What’s next? The COVID pandemic had just seized the world and there were more questions than answers.

I decided to get out of the city and move to a cabin in the Andes Mountains. Being in nature was pure medicine for me. It allowed me to continue focusing on my yoga and meditation practices while deciding on my next move.

One early morning while taking a hike, I had a sudden epiphany. I finally comprehended my purpose in life. It had been something I was doing since the military, and that was coaching, advising, serving.

With all the experiences I’ve had in my lifetime, it was to reach this point, 50 years later, to understand that I am here to serve leaders, businesses and individuals.

Teaching, coaching, mentoring and speaking on how to maximize performance, productivity and reach their goals without burning out.

How to find the time to fit it all in. How to effectively organize everything into an easy-to-follow plan. And most importantly, realizing one’s values and authenticity.

I took what I knew I am damn good at and that was delivering large scale, global and regional transformation projects. But how to structure it?

I transferred my project management skills into building a project plan specifically on my life. It led to a carefully constructed program entitled:

TIME | LIFE | SELF

...which incorporates Time Management, Life Organization and Self Development along with a balance of physical and mental well-being practices.

Since it's commencement, this program and respective modules have helped many professionals and students in regaining control of their personal and work lives while increasing focus and reducing stress.
